2006 Trees For Troops

This year's Trees for Troops pick-up location for the Southern Illinois area was held at Daniken Tree Farm, 5 miles west of Greenville IL, on Friday, December 1 at 9:OOAM. Fed Ex picked up 245 trees from this location to add to the 11,000 trees being distributed to military bases across the U.S. and to active duty members in the Middle East. Trees were donated by 4 local tree farms including Alfeldts Tree Farm in Nashville, Stemmler Tree Farm in New Douglas, Randy's Country Barn in Greenville, and Daniken Tree Farm in Pocahontas. Daniken Tree Farm donated 35 trees with a retail value of about $1200. Additionally, Daniken Tree Farm joined forces with the Lincoln Land Leathernecks to raise donations for another 180 trees.

2006 Toys For Tots

The Lincoln Land Leathernecks Detachment 1174 of the Marine Corps League collected toys for the local Toys For Joy program to be dispensed to area families. 150 toys and $750 in cash donations were collected. We held our collection and had a food stand at Daniken's Tree Farm located at 781 IL Rt. 140, Pocahontas, IL.
